Guringai Yoga Shala - Mona Vale - Teachers
Our yoga teachers are highly trained and experienced, and offer a variety of Yoga styles.
Amanda Murfin - Hatha Yoga
Amanda believes you're never too old, too unfit or too tight to do Yoga, as it can be tailor-made to suit the individual. Her style of teaching encourages you to develop self-awareness, whilst supporting you to move at your own pace, adapting and adjusting within your limits of fitness and flexibility.
Her own journey began 20 years ago, when she became aware that woven in and around the postures, breathing, relaxation and meditation, were teachings on philosophy and lifestyle that deeply influenced her way of ‘being’ - not just on the mat, but off the mat, in her busy daily life.
Carol Matasci - Restorative Yoga
Carol offers a holistic style of yoga, grounded in breath, feeling the body and encouraging mindfulness. Compassion, gentle humour and empathy are woven into her approach, giving permission to experience whatever there is in the moment. Sharing Yoga with others fills Carol with joy and gratitude.
She says “It remains important to me not to force anything with the body; Yoga has been the gateway into a deep diving of befriending myself and discovering my true nature. Yoga guides me into balance between logic and intuition, my head and my heart. It has taught me how to move through life with more grace and acceptance. I am passionate about how Yoga can transform your inner wellbeing and physical health”
Caroline Robertson - Dynamic Hatha Yoga
Caroline has a background in philosophy and a strong dynamic practice which makes for a great combination in a teacher! Her classes come with her signature style, and of course her beautiful French accent :)
She also teaches Yoga in French on the Northern Beaches.
Claire Lane - Gentle Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga
Claire's classes have been described as "wonderfully gentle, nourishing and restorative" and more than one student has been known to send her a late-night email to her, declaring how their legs (or mind!) feel after a class. Her teachings underpin the philosophy that the purpose of Yoga is to connect body, breath and mind as one, and that the actual shapes we make in class aren't nearly as important as we think they are!
She started Yoga in 2009 as a way to resolve the aches and pains that came with a desk job, but what enchanted her was its ability to calm the mind, not just on the mat, but also in day-to-day life. It's this she loves sharing with her students, in a welcoming and light-hearted way.
Fabio Fabbri - Owner and Teacher
Fabio opened Guringai Yoga Shala in 2015 to realise his long-held dream of creating a space where he could share his love of Yoga - in particular, the principles and practices that take place off the mat, but that he believes are essential for a more authentic way of life. His main goal as a teacher is to increase people's self-awareness, allowing their experience of Yoga to be extended into their daily life.
He teaches Hatha Yoga and Freedom Yoga, and also runs specialised courses on Yoga philosophy, chakra meditation, pranayama and relaxation, Yogic physiology and postural alignment, as well as the great Yogic cleanses. He offers mentoring opportunities, designs individual practices for his private and his Freedom Yoga students and runs regular retreats both in Australia and internationally. Fiona Pullen - Ashtanga
Fiona is a KPJAYI Authorised Level 2 Ashtanga Teacher, and is also the Director of the Ashtanga Yoga Space in Surry Hills. She spent four months studying with Guruji and Sharath in Mysore, India and since then has dedicated herself the the practice and the teaching of Ashtanga Yoga. In 2014, she was honoured and blessed to receive her Level 2 Teaching Authorisation from Sharath in Mysore.
She is one of a handful of teachers in Australia who are directly authorised to teach the method of Ashtanga Yoga at this senior level through the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Yoga Institute in Mysore, India, so you will be in excellent hands in her classes.
Stacy Hall - Gentle Hatha Yoga
Stacy's passion is to help students enquire into the more subtle effects of yoga, to help them discover its boundless benefits. She has a nurturing and non-competitive approach to yoga, enabling all her students to feel comfortable and at ease.
As a young adult she found yoga helped calm anxieties and soothe the soul, discovering a whole new sense of wellbeing. Stacy invites you to discover your calm and radiant self in your practice with her.
Rosie Caunt - Hatha Yoga, with an emphasis on Yoga Therapy
Rosie has 40 years' teaching experience, and teaches a classical, breath-centred Yoga with a focus on therapy, strength and balance. She teaches all ages, but tends to attract older people looking to keep active and healthy in their later years. She combines a traditional asana practice, with philosophy, as well as a dash of fun and humour.
